Webinar Software Review: GoToMeeting and Webex

There are so many webinar software companies out there, which is why we put together our huge list of them in Webinar Software Companies. But we often get the question “Which is the best software to use?” question, and the answer is that it depends what you’re looking for and what you’re looking to do with it!  Every host has a different set of criteria, so if you’re clear on what you want, you can more easily select the software that is the best fit for you.  So, over the next couple of months, we’re going to take a closer look at some of the major software companies.  We’ll look at the same criteria each time, and look at 2 each time we do a review — this time is GoToWebinar and Webex.

Another difference between GoTo and WebEx is that WebEx allows for you to purchase from Conference service providers such as PGi who own and operate their own secure audio bridges. These bridges have * key functionality for Reservationless calls or Operator assited calls.

GoTo ties in with freeconferencecall.com which has been under scrutiny by the FCC for security as well as other issues highlighted in this insightful article: http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2010/10/free-conference-calls-and-porn-the-case-for-traffic-pumping.ars

Thanks for the comment! Are you saying that GoToMeeting phone lines are
      actually freeconferencecall.com?

Do you use webex via pgi? If so, please contact me fairly quickly on lwalkey@me.com as I have some news you will need to be aware of.

FYI Gotowebinar does include the post session survey either when you exit or sent in a post session email to your attendee, and you can do a poll during the session, to see if that helps you having a better idea of how did your session go.
Thwe other point is that you can have branded waiting room.
I wanted a software and I went for gotowebinar, and the thing that I would love them to get rid of is the bloody PIN code! It’s confusing all conferencing software work with an access code only, this and webcam integration would help them big time.
I don’t know about the rest of teh world, but here in the UK webex sales department is awful, I was looking for a trial version that I never got, they were supposed to get in touch with me, and they have never been, where gotowebinar have been constantly available to answer my requests – big difference!

Thanks for your comment! I’ll make the changes you noted.

The sales team may be awful but the product is far superior. Thats where we come in. If you’d like a trial of webex with all it’s integrated audio then contact me on lwalkey@me.com

Thanks for the comments! I’ll make the changes (G2W said there are no

    Hi !
We have just trialled Webex  (June 2011) So I would like to add a few corrections, if I may.

Webex does offer a Event Centre trial with full access – we had a trial meeting with 70 participants last week.

The other correction i’d like to make – is that we used a powerpoint with many animations that we uploaded as a document – and these animations were definitely visible to all

    Cheers,
    C

Thanks for the comments. I made the first change. In terms of the
powerpoint.. was that on screen share or an uploaded file?
