The Rise to the Top interview with Hubspot’s Mike Volpe

Here’s a great interview with David Garland from The Rise to the Top, and Mike Volpe from Hubspot. Mike leads TONS of webinars every year, and really knows his stuff.  Maybe next time he’ll mention us! :-)  Here are Hubspot’s upcoming webinars listed on WebinarListings.

RISE #69: An Entrepreneur’s Guide To Putting On A Successful Webinar With Hubspot’s Mike Volpe

Key points:

  • Webinars are more accessible to the general public.  Easy to sign up.
  • Hubspot’s marketing is mostly about education, related to the software they sell.  They present content that is interesting to the people they sell to.
  • Get the word out through related blog posts, emails to segmented list, post on website, post on social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).  But, the content is the most important part.
  • Hubspot only spends 1 minute at the end of the webinar actually selling people on Hubspot’s products. Lead with the “value” and then people trust you by the time you’re “selling.”
  • Q&A comes from Twitter and chat room.  Also benefit is that people see others tweeting about webinar, so they may jump on late.
  • Anyone can create a webinar… just take slides from a talk, or a speech you’ve done and turned it into a webinar.
  • Repurpose content after the webinar — turn it into a blog post, post the video online, post slides on Slideshare.  Can even put these on your site, available after your lead generation form. So, require people to enter their information before viewing the archived webinar.
  • Software Mike recommends – GoToWebinar or LiveStream
  • Free or charge? Maybe do a free overview, and charge for more specific information
  • Need to think about it from the viewers perspective - slides need to keep moving; voice needs to be understood and not too fast or slow; watch your own webinars after
