Social Media can be an incredibly beneficial and low-cost way to promote your webinars. Many people don’t think about it when brainstorming about ways to promote webinars, but it’s often better than the traditional methods of marketing. There are many reasons why that is, and here are a few:
1) It’s Viral
Everything that happens on social media is potentially sharable. If someone RSVPs for your webinar’s event on Facebook, their friends will see it. If someone retweets you on Twitter, all of their friends will see it. When people see content they like, they will share it, inherently spreading your message for you.
2) Robust search
When people are interested in a particular topic, they search for it. If they’re on LinkedIn and are looking for a webinar about social media, chances are they can find it by searching in the events section. Or, if they’re on Twitter, and use keywords or hashtags (like #Webinar) to search, they’ll find many related results.
3) Communicate to current fans/connections
Your current fans are your audience. People like to be communicated with in different ways, and as a marketer it’s important to communicate with them the way they want to be communicated with. So, if they prefer email, send them email. But, many are on Facebook or Twitter, and prefer to be contacted that way. Send a quick tweet or a Facebook update to update your fans about your upcoming webinar.
4) Search Engine Optimization
Many social media websites send their data to the major search engines. The means that not only are they searchable, but having your webinar coming through Google, there will be SEO benefits.
5) Free (usually)
Promoting your webinars on social media websites is usually free. Granted, there are paid options (including Facebook ads), but most are free.
